  • We found the infamous Fer-de-Lance, a pit viper with an edgy disposition, hunting right next to the  trail one evening on a night hike in Boca Tapada, Costa Rica.

  • While traveling north through Costa Rica in late January we photographed several beautiful male iguanas in their breeding color when we stopped at a rest-stop on the way to Boca Tapada.  We were amazed at how many were hanging out (literally) in the nearby trees and their amazing color in the warm afternoon light.
  • While exploring along the Rio Frio in Cano Negro, Costa Rica we came upon a beautiful female Emerald Basilisk lizard all stretched out on a branch overhanging the river.
  • While traveling along the Rio Frio in the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge we were fortunate enough to observe  this beautiful  male Emerald Basilisk lizard basking on a downed log on the riverbank.  He eyed us warily as we floated past; we hardly breathed as we photographed for fear that we would spook him.
