Coy...
This grizzly "cub of the year" surveys its surroundings as it moves through a grassy meadow on a fall morning in Wyoming.
Two Coy...
This grizzly "cub of the year" pauses in a sage filled meadow with its mother safely nearby on a chilly Wyoming morning.
Winter Coming
This massive boar grizzly takes a moment to look around before going back to gorging in anticipation of the coming winter.
It's Cold Out There!
A young grizzly bear cub sought respite on a boulder from the snow after a late spring snowstorm blanketed Yellowstone with a few inches of snow. This made it wet and cold as the cub and its mom foraged in a rock strewn meadow for food.
Parental Supervision
A grizzly sow keeps and eye on her cub and what is going on around them obviously alert to any threats while they graze in a meadow. We captured this image from our vehicle after a late spring snowstorm in Yellowstone National Park.
Wet and Cold
This young grizzly sits on the only dry place around but its face seems to say that it is still cold out here after a late spring snowstorm.
The Swimming Lesson
It was a warm Spring evening and we heard that 399 and her cub "Snowy" had been seen in the northern area of Grand Tetons National Park. We arrived at a small lake and spotted them taking a swim (no doubt to escape the heat and swarms of bloodthirsty mosquitos!). You can almost read his thoughts as he glances back at mom to check how he is doing during his "swimming lesson".
Cool Down Time

My Best Side
399's cub (Snowy) standing up and perhaps looking a little bemused and all the photographers snapping his photo in Grand Tetons National Park, WY.
A Cool Dip
This was the first year we photographed this wonderful mother grizzly in Yellowstone National Park. Here we caught her taking a cooling dip in Yellowstone Lake while still managing to keep a watchful eye on her young female cub on the shore nearby.
Raspberry
Grizzly sow with her cub, Yellowstone National Park.
Here are Raspberry and her very watchful and protective mom.
399's cub Snowy, bounds through a meadow filled with wildflowers. One can clearly see Snowy is smiling as he enjoys the romp.
The Pursuit
Grizzly bear 399 goes after "Blondie" 793 after Blondie strayed into her territory and was perceived as a possible threat to her cub. 399 was not about to put up with that and went after Blondie with a vengeance. Blondie took off running and did not look back until she was a safe distance away.
The Chase!
A female grizzly sow aggressively chasing another female grizzly out of her territory.
Bearly Affectionate
This grizzly coy (cub of the year) takes a break from eating and playing to show its very protective and observant mom some affection as they grazed in a lush meadow near Jackson Lake, Grand Tetons National Park.
Chewin' on a Piece of Grass
This grizzly cub is widely know as "Snow" in Yellowstone National Park. We have been fortunate to photograph her for several years as she has grown up under the supervision of her mother "Raspberry".
